What is the Midwest Jack Russell Terrier Club?

Our Club has been in existence since 1992.
We started as the ambition of a few people who loved their Jacks and wanted to meet up with other Jack Russell lovers in hopes of organizing activities that the four legged and two legged animals could enjoy. Our Club has grown rapidly with the majority of members residing in Illinois. We also have members in Wisconsin, Indiana and Missouri.

We welcome all Jack Russell enthusiasts to come and take a look at what our Club offers. We love to work hard and play hard with our JRs or just sit and talk for hours trading some great terrier stories.

The MWJRTC tries to offer Club events throughout the entire year which may include educational seminars, monthly Fun/Play Days (Spring through Fall). Also JRTCA sanctioned trials, an Annual General Meeting (AGM) and a Year end Awards banquet.

Our Mission:
To promote and preserve the working nature of the Jack Russell Terrier by maintaining a network of club members with the common goals of organizing events, providing education and supporting ethical breeding practices.

MWJRTC Committees
The MWJRTC has established several committees made up of volunteers that have the duties of helping the Board of Directors in the organization of club events. Listed below are each committee and their job descriptions. Each committee consists of a chairman and several volunteers.

Welcoming & Membership:
act as ambassador to visitors and new members by assisting & guiding them at Fun/Play days and trials, answer questions and explain how to participate in the various events.

Racing:
insure that the racing equipment is operational and in good repair, set up, staff, and take down the racing equipment at all club events, provide continuity in racing events by training all committee members in the requirements for running racing events.

Go-To-Ground
insure that the permanent go-to-ground is operational and in good repair, assist committee with go-to-ground events by building goto-ground tubes as needed, obtaining quarry, staffing the event,continuity in the go-to-ground by training all committee members in the requirements for running the event.

Breed Education:
keep inventory of all educational material, at seminars and public events distribute breed and club informational material to the public, investigate all possible avenues to provide breed education (i.e. pet expos, pet store openings, etc.).

Newsletter:
collect articles, type/layout newsletter, print and post.

Finance:
sell and keep inventory of club memorabilia items, keep inventory of club property, develop an annual budget, staff registration booth at events and collect fees.

Agility/Obedience:
organize and staff agility and obedience at club sponsored trials and seminars. Assess equipment needs, develop cost estimates for purchase of club equipment.

Youth:
guide youth through classes at trials.
